Exploring Innovations in K-12 Physical Education: Advancing Inclusion, Engagement, and Interdisciplinary Learning

Modern physical education (PE) programs are shifting beyond traditional fitness-focused approaches to embrace whole child wellness, inclusivity, and interdisciplinary learning. By prioritizing dynamic, engaging environments that support both physical and cognitive development, schools can equip students with lifelong fitness skills while ensuring equitable access to high-quality programs. With the right strategies and available grant funding, educators, administrators, and policymakers can create PE experiences that foster lasting health, learning, and opportunity for all students.

Client Spotlight

At MMS, we take pride in collaborating with organizations like GENYOUth and the National Dairy Council to enhance health, fitness, and nutrition programs within K-12 education. These partnerships have given us extensive experience engaging with Physical Education leaders and practitioners to drive participation in our clients’ initiatives and measure their impact on student wellness nationwide.

NFL FLAG-In-School

To promote year-round physical activity, we collaborated with GENYOUth and the NFL Foundation to launch the NFL FLAG-In-School program, providing underserved schools with FLAG football resources, equipment kits, and training modules. To date, this work has helped to distribute 40,000+ kits to over 30,000 schools, engaging 17 million students in physical activity.

Want to expand your program’s reach and impact with seamless distribution and engagement?
MMS delivers the expertise and support you need.

National School Health and Wellness Program

Working with the National Dairy Council and the NFL, MMS has played a pivotal role in developing and expanding Fuel Up to Play 60—now Fuel Up—a program fostering healthier school communities through evidence-based strategies. In addition to strategic support for the program, MMS develops standards-aligned lesson plans, ensures educator engagement through content and outreach, manages administration, and measures the impact of its annual grant opportunity. The program has impacted 73,000+ schools, awarding $40+ million in grants and equipment to support student wellness.

Does your organization need to streamline the outreach, fulfillment, and measurement components of your program? MMS is here for you.

GENYOUth Impact Reports

We partnered with GENYOUth to showcase the success of their school-based health and wellness programs through visually engaging “Impact Reports” highlighting key metrics that help stakeholders clearly understand program reach and effectiveness. A great example is the “Shaping the Future of Physical Activity & P.E.” Impact Report, which examines youth physical activity trends, barriers to participation, and strategies to increase engagement, with MMS leading with the survey design, fielding, and analysis.
